Easy, quick and kid friendly recipes are always a win at our house and this Bubble Pizza is just that. This yummy recipe uses canned biscuits, meat sauce, cheese and whatever pizza toppings you like to use. Sounds pretty great, huh?! Did I mention that it’s also kid friendly?! I’ve been making this since before my husband and I were married but now that we have kids and it’s something they enjoy eating it makes me like it even more.

When I make this Bubble Pizza recipe I usually just use pepperoni but I’ve also used a pound of ground beef and/or sausage before too. The options are based on your personal pizza preferences. My husband would love it even more if I added mushrooms in it since he’s a mushroom fan. This is a great meal to sneak some veggies into as well. My kids love this dinner and are even willing to eat the leftovers for lunch.

This Bubble Pizza recipe is easily adaptable. You can make whatever changes to your family’s liking. If you want to use less sauce or double it that’s fine. Like ground turkey? Add it in. Vegetarian style? Of course. Prepare it as you would if you were ordering or making your favorite pizza and enjoy! This pizza sauce is one of our favorites.

Sweet and Sour Chicken-Breaded chicken smothered in homemade sweet and sour sauce. You will love being able to make this at home!

sweet and sour chicken

I have been in a real dinner funk lately where nothing sounds good to eat. I think we all have that happen to us but mine has lasted for weeks now. I feel like we eat the same type of meals, which are usually quick ones because I don’t have much time to spend in the kitchen. Once again, I think we can all relate.

Browsing for recipes this weekend trying to meal plan I saw a couple of different ones for sweet and sour chicken and I was instantly taken back to our first couple of years of marriage when I use to make it for us. This sweet and sour chicken does require more cooking time than most of my other recipes as of lately but that’s why I cooked it on the weekend when Jason was home. Having two people to entertain Grayson is definitely easier than one.

easy sweet and sour chicken recipe

I combined a couple different recipes and then placed the chicken under the broiler. Using the broiler really helped to thicken the sauce and that makes it extra delicious. I served outs with white rice and broccoli and we loved it. It was nice to have something different for a change.

Sweet and Sour Chicken
  1. 1 lb chicken (cut into bite size pieces)
  2. 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  3. 1/4 tsp pepper
  4. 1/4 tsp garlic salt
  5. 3/4 cup corn starch (start with 3/4 and add more if you don't think you have enough) I used 1 cup
  6. 2 large eggs, whisked
  7. Canola oil approx. 1/2 cup
Sweet and sour sauce
  1. 1 cup sugar
  2. 1 tsp garlic salt
  3. 1/3 cup ketchup
  4. 1/2 cup + 1 TB rice vinegar (distilled vinegar works if thats all you have
  5. 1 TB soy sauce
  1. Spray a 9x13 pan with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Set aside.
  3. Place the chicken, corn starch, salt, pepper and garlic salt in a large ziplock bag and shake until the chicken is evenly coated.
  4. Heat oil in a large frying pan over medium heat.
  5. Dip the chicken in the egg mixture and place in the frying pan with a fork.
  6. Don't crowd your pan.
  7. Fry both sides of the chicken until light brown color.
  8. Pre-heat oven to 325°F.
  9. In a medium size bowl whisk together all of the ingredients for the sauce.
  10. Pour the sauce over the chicken and bake for 20 minutes.
  11. Pull the chicken out and flip the chicken to evenly coat it with sauce.
  12. Then bake for an additional 15-20 minutes.
  13. Place under broiler for 30 seconds to 1 minute, if you wish.
  1. Our broiler is a top broiler in the oven so I broiled my chicken longer but it wasn't directly under the broiler so I didn't have to worry about it burning so easily.
