In a large mixing bowl combine one 8-ounce package of cream cheese, softened; ½ cup butter, softened; and 2 teaspoons vanilla; beat with an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Gradually beat in 5 ½ to 6 cups powdered sugar to reach spreading consistency.

Refrigerate leftovers. Don't let your frosted cakes sit in room temperature too long before serving because it will make your frosting runny.
