Homemade Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 4 cups Self-Rising Flour
  • 1 T. Baking powder
  • 1 T. Sugar
  • ¾ cup. Shortening
  • 2 cups Buttermilk

Instructions

  • Mix all ingredients just until blended. I like to use my pastry blender.
  • Dust counter top with flour and roll out dough.
  • Use a floured biscuit cutter or small drinking glass to cut biscuits.
  • Place on a lightly greased baking sheet, or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake at 400 degrees.
  • Bake for 14-18 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.

Notes

I begin checking to see if they are done at around 10 minutes. Sometimes I only bake a small number at a time and the baking time will be less.
