Homemade Taco Seasoning

I know how easy and inexpensive it is to buy a package of taco seasoning. However, it’s not something I have done in years. Right after we got married I started looking into ways to cut costs on our grocery budget. We were two college students and money was tight. I realized that I could make my own taco seasoning by using the spices I already had and we weren’t going to be putting all the unnecessary ingredients into our body. DOUBLE WIN! easytacoseasoning When making tacos I usually grab the spices I want to use and just add them to the meat without measuring. Although, that makes it difficult to share with you. So, today I have an actual recipe. This makes a decent amount so I recommend keeping it in an airtight container to retain its freshness.   homemadetacoseasoningI typically use about two tablespoons per one pound of meat, but feel free to add more or use less depending on your taste buds.

Homemade Taco Seasoning
  1. 1 tablespoon Chili powder
  2. 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  3. 1/4 tsp. onion powder
  4. 1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
  5. 1/4 tsp. dried oregano
  6. 1/2 tsp. paprika
  7. 1 1/2 tsp. ground cumin
  8. 1 tsp. sea salt
  9. 1 tsp. black pepper
  1. Measure all ingredients into a bowl.
  2. Stir.
  3. Store in an airtight container.
  4. After browning mean and draining excess fat sprinkle taco seasoning over meat and add 1/3 cup of water. Simmer until the water is absorbed.
