I like to use my blog as my own personal recipe box and since every recipe box needs a cream cheese frosting recipe, I figured I needed to put this recipe on here. I used this cream cheese frosting recipe to make this cake and of course you can use it on your own cake recipes as well. Red Velvet cake is delicious with a tangy cream cheese frosting.
Do you remember those dunkaroo snacks?! You know...the individual cookie snacks that you dip in the square of frosting. I don't even know if that's what they're called but cream cheese frosting always reminds me of those and makes me want to grab some graham cracker sticks and dunk them in the frosting....which would be delicious!
Cream Cheese Frosting is super easy to make and compliments a lot of different cake flavors. You could even sandwich it between some cookies and that'd be good too!
Make sure to pin this recipe so whenever you're in need of a cream cheese frosting you'll be to find it quickly.
Cream Cheese Frosting
Ingredients
- 8 ounce package of cream cheese softened
- ½ cup butter softened
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 5-6 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl combine one 8-ounce package of cream cheese, softened; ½ cup butter, softened; and 2 teaspoons vanilla; beat with an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Gradually beat in 5 ½ to 6 cups powdered sugar to reach spreading consistency.
Notes
Don't let your frosted cakes sit in room temperature too long before serving because it will make your frosting runny.
